Teaming up with other difference makers feeds my heart.
You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
~ Kahlil Gibran
I believe in trying to make a difference… both at home and around the world.
I believe everyone, no matter where they live, deserves a chance to learn and grow in a safe and healthy place. To help that cause, I donate to environmental and charitable causes including Greenpeace, the Rainforest Action Network, Green America, Waterfall Keepers, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, and Together Women Rise.
I try to walk as lightly on the earth as possible. Buying carbon-offsets to neutralize my air travel emissions and my website emissions is one way of helping the cause. Do you know the size of your Carbon Footprint? Interested in making your site CO2 neutral?
Sharing time, energy and passion is also an important – and sometimes more challenging – way of making a positive difference. So, I served six years on the board of Together Women Rise. Rise is a powerful community of women and allies dedicated to achieving global gender equality. We have hundreds of local chapters across the U.S., where members come together to learn about and advocate for gender equality issues, give grants to organizations that empower women and girls in low-income countries, and build community to forge meaningful connections that increase our strength and collective impact.
I’m also honored to serve on the Board of Advisors for the Biodiversity Group which protects species and habitats other organizations neglect—the conservation underdogs termed Life Overlooked™. TBG facilitates the work of conservation non-profits to protect some of the most overlooked wildlife on our planet. Mission: To conserve life overlooked in underserved places by facilitating and engaging in education, stewardship, fiscal sponsorship, and research with local partners and an international network of conservationists, citizens, scientists, and photographers.
